Le Palaie: story of a family and a magical place

We want to tell you the story of a great dream.

A dream made possible by the perseverance, tenacity and competence of a young captain of industry in search of an uncontaminated place in which to rediscover the most beautiful and deepest part of himself.

Nino Angelo Caponi's fate was already written. Son of a family of direct farmers, after graduating in Economics and Commerce at just 24 years old, he began working in the family business "Gori", which operates in the logistics and transport sector from its headquarters in Livorno. The young Nino pours all the enthusiasm and vision derived from his studies into the company. Also thanks to the commitment of the young entrepreneur, "Gori" becomes an international leader in specialized and refrigerated transport by ship, in particular of wine products, strengthening its presence in Italian, French, German and Spanish ports and also going overseas, to India, Australia, the Far East and South America.

But it's not enough for Nino. Nino seeks paradise. For himself, for his family, for his friends.

Le Palaie: suddenly paradise

With the company flying from success to success, Nino constantly searches for "his" piece of uncontaminated nature: a place to make the most intimate and deep strings of his heart vibrate.
And he found it in 1996 in Alta Val d'Era, on the outskirts of the municipality of Peccioli, just under 5 thousand inhabitants, between the provinces of Pisa and Livorno. It is here, in Le Palaie, that Nino Caponi, with his wife Paola, his life partner, discovers paradise.
A landscape where the colors of the hills seem like impressionist brushstrokes, where the air has an enchanting scent, where plant and animal biodiversity reigns undisturbed.
For Nino it's love at first sight.
A love fueled year after year, with passion and creativity: first the purchase of a seventeenth-century farmhouse, which became the beating heart of the farmhouse , then the production of oil and wine .
In 2004 the first harvest was an endless joy: its labels were marketed and appreciated on an international scale.
Today the founder Nino is no longer here. He passed away at the age of 82 on September 9, 2020.
However, his love for his family, for the land , his passion for wine remain, but above all his life testimony: believing in his dreams and moving forward with a smile.
Giovanna, the youngest daughter, remains to take up the baton with a group of trusted collaborators.
What remains is that piece of heart that Nino planted and made flourish in Val D'Era.

An estate surrounded by nature

The name Le Palaie derives from that of the farm as it was registered at the Land Registry.
The property extends over 150 hectares, of which 20 are inhabited and 19 are cultivated with high quality vineyards. Then add 4 hectares of arable land for fauna and entomofauna for the purposes of conservation and repopulation of the environment, and twenty hectares of poplar woods. Large space is dedicated to one of the most typical crops of Tuscany: olive groves.
In this environment there are the farmhouse, the cellar, the guest houses, the spaces for events and receptions.
In the Le Palaie estate everyone can find "their" paradise, where they can leave a piece of their heart.
